Cardi B pleads guilty over 2018 NYC Club scuffles
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has resolved a criminal case that reached a yearslong length. Cardi B plead guilty to an agreement with the New York City court by performing 15 days of community service.
Right before her case was set to go to trial, the singer, who is 29 years old, was given a conditional release. In a statement, the singer said, “I am ready to face all the consequences of my actions.”
Cardi B’s 2018 fiasco
Cardi B had two minor offences and entered a plea of guilty in connection with a fight that she was involved in during the summer of 2018. Ten other charges were dismissed, as well as two others. One co-defendant also admitted guilt and another one did not.
Prosecutors claim that Cardi B and her group were attacking the staff of the Angels Strip Club in Flushing, Queens, over what appeared to be a personal issue.
One fight broke out with bottles, chairs and hookah pipes were being tossed while the group clashed with their bartender. They also got injuries from that altercation.

“No one is above the law,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. “The Almanzar admitted fault for their acts by pleading guilty today and were sentenced to appropriate community service.”

Cardi B turned down a plea bargain in 2019 that would have granted her a conditional discharge. Following their grand jury presentation, the prosecution received an indictment with two felony charges.
“I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I’m not afraid to face and own up to,” said Cardi B, adding that she wanted to set a good example for her two children.

While she recognizes there are some things that will never change about her, she vowed to move past her recent popularity. Cardi B is looking forward to once again focusing on the things that make her most happy—music and her fans.

Cardi B was born on October 11, 1992 in Washington Heights. Her mother is Trinidadian and is of African and Spanish ancestry; her father is Dominican. They raised her in the South Bronx’s Highbridge neighbourhood, and she spent a lot of time at their residence of the maternal grandma in Washington Heights when she was just young.
When Cardi B was 12-years-old, she became incredibly interested in rap music, and started taking hip hop dance classes. She also began changing her surname from her father’s name—naming herself after Bacardi Rum instead. Cardi shifted to rapping full-time as she grew older and decided to enter the entertainment world. In high school, she met rapper Lil Wayne at a Northeast Bronx concert and they dated briefly before he ended the relationship.
Cardi B worked for an Amish deli and got fired after a few weeks, then she became a stripper. Once she became a stripper, it helped her get back to school and become successful.
She claimed that after being expelled from her mother’s home and falling into an abusive relationship, she turned to stripping to get out of poverty and domestic abuse, and that she had to strip in order to make enough money to leave her situation and pursue a degree.
Upon graduating, Cardi B was a student at Borough of Manhattan Community College living off her family’s financial support while telling her mother that she was earning cash babysitting.
Her popularity on social media in 2013 led to further attention from strangers on Vine and Instagram.
