Magnum P.I. Actor Roger E. Mosley Passes Away
Roger E. Mosley played the role of Tom Selleck’s helicopter pilot sidekick, Theodore “T.C.” Calvin, in a number of television series in the 1970s.

Roger E Mosley, best known for his role as the helicopter pilot Theodore “T.C.” Calvin in the CBS television series “Magnum P.I,” died early Sunday morning at the age of 83. No other details about his death were made available.

“Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘coach Mosley’ your ‘TC’ from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17am,” she wrote. “He was surrounded by family as he transcended peacefully. We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would hate any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”

Actor William Thomas Mosley was well-known for his role as Thomas Magnum alongside Tom Selleck in the original “Magnum P.I.” In total, Mosley appeared in 158 episodes of the show and a cameo in the series reboot as the barber to the character he originated, TC.
Roger E. Mosley was born in Los Angeles on December 18, 1938, and raised in Watts. Mosley attended Jordan High School. In 1971, he got his start with small roles playing in “Cannon” and “Longstreet.” He went on to play Monk in “Terminal Island,” alongside Phyllis Davis, who would become his co-star for their coming film.
After a number of other roles in the late 1970s, Mosley landed a guest role on “Magnum, P.I.” as T.C. Calvin, an expert in helicopter piloting who ran a tourist company called “Island Hoppers”. Together with Lawrence Francis Manetti, he co-starred as Theodore on the original series. He also directed and wrote an episode of the show too.

Roger E. Mosley is considered one of the main Blaxploitation filmmakers, starring in “The Mack,” “Hit Man,” “Sweet Jesus,” Preacherman,” and “Darktown Strutters.” He also played a main role in Michael Mann’s feature debut “The Jericho Mile”.
