Star of the show, Sheryl Lee Ralph reminded the audience that she had fantastic pipes well before her win. Her acceptance speech was streamed worldwide
On stage, while presenting at the Emmy Award ceremony, Ralph broke out into “Endangered Species” by Dianne Reeves.
Ralph sang at a special ceremony, and brought the audience to their feet with her song rather than overpowering them.
Sheryl Lee Ralph was astounded by her victory. When her name was announced, as Tyler James Williams accompanied her to the stage, she leaned on him.
Ralph on dreaming and thriving "This is what striving looks like. And don't you ever ever give up on you."
Although she said thank you to the show's lead actress, Quinta Brunson, her husband and children, Kate thanked Gov. Tom Wolf and his wife Montanita for their support.
Ralph has worked in entertainment since the 1970s, appearing in bit parts on TV before her Broadway debut of "Dreamgirls" and a Tony nomination.
